I totally lack diplomacy while my mother is the ultimate diplomat. I just realised the other day that I am almost 30 years old but I talk like a 13 year old. Now, I need to become a diplomat.
The best thing I have heard so far, for aspiring 'diplomats' - "Its easy to be nice to people you like but tough to be nice to people you don't."

You are probably right, but I haven't been able to be nice to someone I don't like, not yet at least!
@Nick - It is hard, isn't it? Could it be coz we feel like frauds when we do it? Guess the trick is in finding a balance between being polite and being a hypocrite. :D
true....our mom rocks!!! PRO of the family...but im happy that i never got that trait
